‘Military & Emergency Services Launch Unprecedented PTS Awareness Campaign’ – Nine Network News
The military and the emergency services supported an unprecedented Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) awareness campaign, created by Stand Tall for PST founder, Tony Dell. The only Australian representative cricketer to have served in Vietnam, Tony was diagnosed with PTS 40 years after his active infantry service.
The Lightning Bolt Convoy consisted of military and emergency services vehicles, travelling from Brisbane to Melbourne to shine a light on a condition that affects one million Australians.
Daryl Elliott Green travelled with the convoy and speaks frankly in this interview, about the horrific night, when as a 27-year-old police officer, responding to a routine job, everything changed. A gunman ran up to the open door of the police vehicle he was seated in, stood there, and pointed a .22 calibre rifle at his face.
One of the largest Post Traumatic Stress campaigns ever mounted, the convoy hit the road to raise awareness about this condition, which most Australians have never heard of, despite it being one the most common mental health conditions in the community.
