As a Constable in the Queensland Police, Daryl was on a routine callout when he was ambushed and shot in his face and shoulder. Suffering critical injuries and significant blood loss, he drew his firearm and began searching for the gunman. For his actions Daryl was awarded the police service’s highest award for bravery. The award, acknowledgments and accolades did not stop him from being affected by the full fury of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Listen to Daryl talk about the effects of PTSD, the day his thoughts turned to suicide, and one of the most courageous decisions he made in his life, which sets an example for other suffers of PTSD.
